Rent a Dumpster or Use Olathe’s Bulk Pick-up Service?

Here are the top reasons why renting a dumpster is better.

Fall is a great time for cleaning up the place, getting rid of clutter that’s been sitting around for years, and cleaning up the yard before the snow shows up. Olathe homeowners sometimes hesitate to tackle these projects because of the time involved and the disruption to daily routines.

Another deterrent is the challenge of disposing of everything, whether it’s the kids’ outgrown clothes, broken furniture that will never be repaired, or old appliances taking up space in the garage. Without available waste containers to handle these bulky items, the piles are often just shifted from one room to another.

Here’s the Solution

Many homeowners don’t realize they can rent a dumpster for projects such as these. They assume the only way to get rid of large items is to use the city’s bulk waste pick-up service. But that’s not true. Homeowners who need to get rid of bulky items can also reserve a small dumpster rental for the job.

That’s How We Got Started

Dumpster rental is our specialty at Small Haul Containers. We’re Kansas City’s dumpster rental headquarters. Our container rental company got started because we had big home improvement projects that created a mess we didn’t know how to dispose of. We searched but couldn’t find residential dumpster rental companies in the area that would take loads like the ones we created with our remodeling. We decided to fill the need.

Our waste containers rental process is one of the easiest in the industry. We’ll deliver a container when you’re ready to get started, and we’ll pick it up when you’re done. There’s no need to wait for trash day when you can take charge of the project and do it on your own timeline.

Here are just a few of the benefits of renting a dumpster instead of using Olathe’s bulk waste pick-up service.

No unsightly mess. When you use the city’s bulk waste pick-up service, all items must be stacked at the curb before 8 a.m. on trash day. This means that as you’re clearing things out, you have to haul each item to the curb. As the pile grows days before the appointed pick-up day, so does the neighbors’ angst. They have no idea what you’re doing. All they know is that you have an unsightly mess in front of your house.

Renting a container from Small Haul Containers takes care of all that. Yes, your neighbors will see a dumpster in your driveway for a few days. But everything you’re getting rid of goes inside the dumpster, keeping it all together, fully contained, and invisible to everyone else. You won’t have to worry about someone getting hurt or tripping as they walk by the trash pile at the curb, either.

No damage to lawn or driveway. When the city picks up your bulky items, they use a mechanical claw to scoop everything up. This may result in divots in the yard or chinks out of the driveway, depending on the claw operator’s experience with the machinery.

When we deliver waste containers, we’re careful to protect the driveway before setting the dumpster down. Our containers fit within a parking space, leaving room for your vehicles. When we pick the container up at the end of the rental period, there’s no scooping or shoveling. We simply pick the container up and haul it off.

Keep steps to a minimum. When using Olathe’s bulk waste pick-up service, all items must be separated into piles of like items and set at the curb. The pile has to be a minimum of three feet from the curb, the mailbox, parked cars, basketball goals, and fire hydrants. This is so the claw operator has room to maneuver. It takes extra time to walk everything out to the curb and stack it accordingly. If the items are heavy, this may result in back strain or other injuries.

With a dumpster rental from Small Haul, you can throw everything into one container conveniently located near the house. We position the container in the driveway with the doors facing the house to save steps during the loading process. Our dumpsters feature barn-style doors that swing open so that heavy items can be walked inside and set down. This helps reduce the chance that someone will get injured during the loading process.

Get rid of things in your own time. When you call for the city’s bulk pick-up service, you’re limited to trash day. That means you have to work quickly to get everything out to the curb the night before — unless you spend time during the week hauling everything to the curb ahead of time.

At Small Haul Containers, our standard rental period is one week. We’ll deliver your small dumpster rental on the scheduled day, and at the end of the week, we’ll come back, pick it up, and haul it off. There’s no need to match the city trash pick-up schedule.

No hidden fees. One of the biggest reasons to rent a dumpster from Small Haul rather than using Olathe’s bulk pick-up service is that we don’t hit you with hidden fees. When you reserve one of our waste containers, you’ll know how much it costs at the time of the reservation. Unlike the city’s service, there are no minimums, no loading time increments, and no additional fees for appliances. Just one rate disclosed upfront.
