What We Aim For
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not claiming perfect conformance, because that claim is only worth something if it has been independently audited. What we can tell you is what we actually do.
What We Do
- Every page has one main heading and headings that run in order, so a screen reader can navigate the structure
- A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content
- Every image carries alt text, and images that are decoration are hidden from screen readers rather than described
- Every image declares its size, so the page does not jump around as it loads
- The site works with the keyboard alone, and focus is visible as you move through it
- Text and background colours are chosen to stay readable, and the site does not rely on colour alone to carry meaning
- Pages are plain HTML rendered on the server, so nothing important depends on JavaScript loading first
Where We Know There Are Gaps
Two areas of this site are built by other companies and we do not control their markup: the online booking system, and the map on our contact page.
If either one gets in your way, call or text us and we will take the booking or give you directions directly. You will never be told to use the website instead.
