Dumpster rental in Kansas City costs $325 to $425 for a 7 day rental depending on size, or $325 to $400 for a 3 day one. Either length covers delivery, pickup and a weight allowance of one to three tons by size. Over the allowance it is $70 per ton, and extra days are $15 a day. Sizes run from 6 to 20 cubic yards.
Most homeowners need a 10 or 13-yard dumpster. Choose a 6 or 10-yard for a garage clearout or a single room, a 13 or 16-yard for a kitchen, bathroom or deck, and a 20-yard for a whole-home cleanout or a roof tear-off. The table below matches every size to its typical project.
A weight allowance is included in every price and rises with size: one ton on the 6 and 10-yard, two tons on the 13 and 16-yard, and three tons on the 20-yard. Anything over the allowance is charged at $70 per ton.
A 16-foot portable storage container is $200 per month and a 20-foot is $220, plus a one-time $85 delivery fee and a $85 pickup fee on either size. A first month on the 16-foot comes to $370 in total, and the container stays on your property for as long as you need it.

Pickup loads are worked out at roughly 2 to 2.5 cubic yards per full-size pickup bed, level full. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: sizing up costs less than overfilling a container and paying for a second haul.
