Rent a Dumpster with Delivery Service, Flexible Sizing, and Concern for the Environment

When it’s time to think about completing home repairs or clean-outs, most homeowners rent a dumpster so they can discard building materials and other household clutter. Dumpster rental businesses have been around for a long time, but in recent years, new ways of providing people with bulk garbage pickup have been created with the goal of simplifying the process or saving money.

One of those newer companies is called Bagster. With Bagster, you purchase a large polypropylene bag for a flat fee, take it home, set it up, and manually fill it. Then, you schedule a Bagster pickup with one of their service providers. It seems like a great deal, but many people don’t know or consider some of the less-than-ideal implications of using a service like Bagster for waste management.

We’ll compare Small Haul Containers’ local South Kansas City and Johnson County service to Bagster’s, so you can make an informed decision on the best choice you might find when you Google “dumpster rental near me” or “dumpster bag near me.”

Dumpster Rental Sizes vs. Bagster Size

The Bagster comes in just one size: 4 feet by 8 feet by 2.5 feet, or three cubic yards. If you need more space, you must purchase multiple bagsters. Bagster bags can hold up to 3,300 pounds of waste.

Dumpsters from Small Haul Containers come in five sizes: 6, 10, 13, 16, and 20 cubic yards. No matter what dumpster size you rent, it is guaranteed to fit in a single parking space on your driveway or other solid surface, such as a patio. Smaller dumpster sizes can hold up to one ton of waste, but the weight limit increases with larger sizes of dumpsters.

A cubic yard is about the size of a standard washing machine, so one Bagster doesn’t give you a lot of space to toss out your unwanted items. Because of the smaller size, you will likely need to purchase multiple Bagster bags and arrange pick-up for them; you must pay a pickup fee per bag.

What You Can Throw Away in a Rental Dumpster Versus a Bagster in South Kansas City

Bagster cannot accept all building materials or other items because it is not a true dumpster. In fact, Bagster cannot accept old appliances from kitchen remodels, for example. Depending on your service area, Bagster also cannot accept yard waste.

The types of materials you can discard from one of our Small Haul dumpsters, however, is much more diverse, including used appliances. You can dispose of yard waste in our dumpster rental, however, you must speak to us in advance beforehand so you don’t mix your yard waste with other materials.

Cost of Bagster Compared to Dumpster Rental

To get a Bagster, you must pay a flat fee to purchase a single bag. Then, you must make arrangements to have it picked up after you fill it. Pick-ups cost an additional fee. If you use more than one Bagster, you will need to pay an additional pick-up fee for each one.

At Small Haul Containers , our flat rental fees include the rental cost, plus pick-up and drop-off of our containers. We also protect your driveway or other solid surface with a barrier before you place your residential dumpster rental on top of it, an added value that also shows how much we care about our valued customers.

How to Use a Container Rental or a Bagster

After you’ve purchased one or more Bagster bags, you must find a place to open and set them up on your property. You must place your Bagster within 16 feet of the street, with at least five feet of clearance all the way around it, and an additional 18 feet of space leading up to the bag. If your bag is not placed correctly, it cannot be picked up once it is full.

At Small Haul Containers, we don’t make you do complicated math and geometry. Instead, we deliver your rental dumpster to your home or business in Olathe or Overland Park, for example, and place it for you. All our dumpsters, no matter the size, need the equivalent of only one parking spot.

To prevent Bagster from collapsing on itself or tearing, you must strategically load your discarded items into the bag, working from the outside edges, into the middle. This means once the outside edges are filled, you will need to lean or toss heavy items toward the center of each Bagster, which can be difficult to do!

Small Haul Containers delivers our dumpster rental straight to you and places it where you need it most. You do not need to take any special precautions with how you load the dumpster. Plus, our containers include doors that open and allow you to walk directly inside the dumpster, so you don’t have to lift heavy objects over your head and toss them in. Of course, our dumpsters never collapse or require special filling techniques to work optimally.

When your Bagster bag is full, you have to schedule a pick-up time that works best for you. Sometimes, you may need to wait until a pick-up time is available. Until then, what appears to be giant shopping bags full of trash are lined up in your driveway or yard, for your entire neighborhood to see.

When you rent a dumpster with Small Haul Containers , you pre-select your pick-up date, and that is exactly when we will retrieve your full dumpster. Our tall dumpster sides hide the contents of the dumpster and look tidy from the street.

Environmental Concerns with Bagster

If you’re concerned about sustainability, you might want to think twice before purchasing a Bagster from your local hardware store or online retail giant. Each Bagster is made of virgin polypropylene, and these materials have a lot of negative implications associated:

  • Virgin materials mean no recycled content went into the production of the Bagster.
  • Polypropylene is a type of plastic.
  • Bagster containers are single-use and are never recycled for reuse. Once you fill a Bagster and the service company retrieves it from your home or business, the entirety of what you discard, bag included, is thrown into a landfill.
  • It will take one Bagster between 20 and 30 years to decompose in a landfill, because it is made of plastic.

On the other hand, a dumpster rental from Small Haul Containers is much more sustainable. Each dumpster can be used over and over again. If a metal dumpster ever wears out or is damaged beyond repair, it can be recycled and made into other products.

We firmly believe residential dumpster rentals from Small Haul Containers are a much better choice and value than disposal services from other companies. If you’re ready to get a dumpster for your next home project, give us a call at 913-991-1595 or book your rental online . We continue to serve Johnson County and Southern Jackson County without the need for face-to-face interaction – order at your convenience, and we’ll deliver when you tell us to, sometimes even the same day.
